This talk has a double-folded objective. First I will present two classroom projects in which primary and secondary learners of English develop the so-called 21st century skills while they reflect (and act!) upon a social problem like the refugee crisis in Europe. Second, I will reflect upon the challenges we need to face as teachers to properly host immigrant/refugee children in our classrooms. It is my hope that both proposals contribute to create bridges between peoples and across cultures in our classrooms.
